For an autistic child

A visual schedule app for an autistic child

Evotonomia lays out the day as sequences illustrated with pictograms following the Fitzgerald colour code, a standard of augmentative and alternative communication. The child sees what comes next, in what order and in which place. The schedule exports to PDF so it can go on the wall at home, at school or in session.

Evotonomia is an everyday organisation tool. It is not a medical device and it replaces no form of support.

For an autistic child

What makes the day unpredictable for an autistic child

Four situations where a stable visual support genuinely changes something.

Transitions are expensive

Stopping one activity for the next requires picturing what comes after. When the next thing is not visible, stopping looks arbitrary, and distress is rarely far behind.

A spoken instruction evaporates

A sentence disappears the moment it is said. An image stays up, can be re-read as often as needed, and does not vary with the mood of whoever says it.

The place matters as much as the task

A routine learned in the bathroom does not automatically transfer to boarding school or the classroom. Tying each sequence to an identifiable place makes the cue far more solid.

No two children share the same cues

A sequence that works for one is unreadable for another. A support that cannot be edited ends up in a drawer, however well made it is.

Stable cues, fully editable, that leave the screen when they need to.

01

Over 300 pictograms in the Fitzgerald colour code

The library follows the colour code used in AAC for decades: green for actions, orange for objects, pink for social and emotions, and a family for time and places. The child identifies the colour before even parsing the image.

The “Choose a pictogram” picker: search field, colour-coded Actions, Objects, Social and emotions, Time and places tabs, then a category and its pictograms.

02

Three buildings, every room illustrated

Home, school and boarding, each with separately drawn rooms: bedroom, kitchen, canteen, sick bay, study room. You only enable the places that exist in the child's life, the rest disappear from their interface.

Mission management screen by building and by room, each room having its own illustration.

03

The week made visible, and printable

The weekly schedule shows missions day by day, with today marked out. It exports to PDF, so the exact same support can live on the screen and on the fridge, or be handed to the school.

Something to take away right now

The “Hygiene and autonomy” pack, free and printable

Hands, teeth, the toilet and getting dressed, as illustrated sequences to put up, progress charts and cut-out cards. A blank version lets you build your own sequence.

Questions from parents of autistic children

01.Do the pictograms follow an AAC standard?
They follow the Fitzgerald colour code, which sorts words by grammatical family. It is the most widespread cue in French-speaking speech therapy. The library belongs to Evotonomia, it is not taken from a third-party set.
02.Does it fit alongside a picture exchange system already in place?
The printable packs include cut-out cards that work like any laminated card. Inside the app the child validates steps rather than exchanging an image: the two logics coexist, they do not replace one another.
03.Can the same support be used at school?
Yes, that is the point of the PDF export. The printed schedule can go up in the classroom or be handed to the teacher, with nothing to install and no account to create.
04.Several children on the same device?
Yes, with no limit. Each profile has its own missions, schedule, points and settings. That is what makes the app usable across siblings, a classroom or a practice.
05.What if sounds or animations are too much?
Sound is muted from the adult dashboard. Side activities are enabled or disabled one by one, which lets you cut the interface back to the bare minimum.
06.Is an internet connection needed?
No. Beyond the initial download, everything runs locally, including in flight mode. No data leaves the device, and there is no account, no advertising and no tracker.
